A lot of photographers claim to be experts when it comes to destination wedding photography. But,
not all of them have captured the weddings at exotic locales before. Ask them
to show the previous works related to a destination wedding.
While interviewing the professional, check how excited they
are for going out. If they are more enthusiastic about bringing their family or
visiting tourist spots, they lack professionalism. No doubt your photographer
should be a traveler at heart, but this shouldn’t mean he behaves immaturely on
getting a chance to visit a new location. Try someone else in such case.
As destination weddings are different from regular ones, it
is crucial that the number of hours and photographs are mentioned in the
contract. Another thing to clarify is who’s going to pay for the travel
expenses of the photographer. Some renowned photographers ask their clients to
pay for everything, including airfare, transfers, and lodgings. Ask the same
with your photographer beforehand, so that there aren’t any surprises during or
after the event.
Make sure the professionals are carrying backup equipment
along, as there isn’t a guarantee that everything will work perfectly during
the event.
